Community Arts Day History

CAD is a PTSA-sponsored event, created in 1976 as a joint venture with each of Webster’s schools that raises money to support cultural arts activities in the buildings.  CAD showcases our children’s creative talent and artwork, and involves the whole community in a day to celebrate cultural arts. Activities include art displays, musical entertainment, demonstrations (karate, gymnastics, etc), carnival games, sweet treats sale, plant sale, crafts galore and so much more!

Volunteers are what make this event so successful each year. Each of our 11 schools lends a hand, providing 20-30 helpers. You’re sure to see many familiar faces of friends and neighbors when you peruse Schroeder High School.

“Schroeder is transformed into an art gallery, a colony of performers of all shapes and sizes, a carnival, a cafe , and a tremendous celebration of our children's talents and dreams,” recalls a Webster Parent. “We had a great time that first time when the kids were small and have been hooked ever since.”

You’re sure to be “hooked,” too, when you take in all that CAD has to offer. Its  300 volunteers includes many of our middle and high schoolers who earn service credits and participate in performances. Younger children love the "Webster's Got Talent" show, carnival, face painting, candy art, and spring gardeners. Parents, you’ll get a chance to enjoy a delicious lunch while connecting and reconnecting with friends from all over Webster.
